The launch in Prague of the Rules on the Efficient Conduct of Proceedings in International Arbitration (the ‘Prague Rules’) in December 2018 has renewed focus on how to optimise efficiency in arbitration and the best ways to streamline the process. This article considers the current dominant procedural approach in arbitration, the extent to which the Prague Rules may help make arbitration more efficient and the challenges that this procedural innovation raises.
