Surrendered BL
Unless there term "Surrendered BL" is clearly defined in the LC, what we can do is to guess its effect and function. There will be more than 1 effect and function guessed by us. This causes ambiguity which leads to dispute and perhaps ligitation too. Anyway, as per ISBP2, it's the applican...

Paragraph 184 - Consignee on C/O
Hi there, the phrase means "another party named therein the credit as the consignee in the certificate of origin". So, it cannot be any party (e.g. shipping company, insurance company, inspector, manufacturer, etc.) named in the credit.

early presentation
Hi there, if I were the presenter, I would state the following instruction in my covering letter addressed to the issuing bank. Quote IN THE EVENT THAT THE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS ARE RECEIVED BY YOU LESS THAN 10 DAYS AFTER BL DATE, PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER THEM AS PRESENTED UNTIL 10 DAYS AFTER THE BL DATE...

How to understand " the same presentation"
Hi Peter, if I understand your case correctly, the bene might have presented drafts on Mon, invoice on Tue, packing list on Wed, and bills of lading on Thu. The presentation was then made on Thu. There was only 1 presentation.

Freight forwarder’s B/L
Dear Peter, I don' t think you can accept a bill of lading signed by a forwarder. In order to comply, the bill of lading must be signed as per the relevant transport document article. Article 14l refers to the issuer only. But your question refers to the signer. So, this sub-article is not applicabl...
On deck
I won't check the terms and conditions on the back as per Article 20av. In other words, any provisions appearing on the back will be disregarded.

Telefax number within notify address
I think it discrepant due to UCP Article 14j and ISBP Paragraph 25. The incomplete number would make the notification to the notify party unworkable. So, it's not a simple typo error but a discrepancy.

Retransfer L/C
ICC unpublished opinion Document 470/TA.632rev (UCP600) provides the answer to question #1. The opinion indicated that the transferring bank might do so if so requested by the first beneficiary.

Shipping Company
Dear Kim, thanks so much for retreiving the opinion. I agree with the opinion that shipping company should refer to the carrier or its agent (unless otherwise stipulated in the credit.)
