BL consignee

Post by jsheehan » Tue Apr 21, 2009 1:00 am

LC requires original Bs/L "issued or endorsed to the order of (LC issuing bank)"

Bs/L presented show "Consignee or Order: (LC issuing bank)"

Discrepancy or not? Confirming bank says yes, I say no argueing that the BL presented is in fact issued to the order of the LC issuing bank

Comments, please. Thanks

BL consignee

Hi,

It’s a discrepancy. Such an indication is ambiguous. It is impossible to determine whether it is a “straight” bill of lading or a “to order” bill of lading.

Best regards,

I agree with N.H. Duc, to dispel doubts, it should have been reinstated "to order of IB"

Thanks for the input. FYI docs have been accepted based on Masters agent written confirmation that BL consignee same as if consigned "to order (LC issuing bank)'
