Bill of Lading signing capacity

B/L shows:
Carrier: ABC Shipping Co. Ltd.
ABC Shipping Co. Ltd., as Agent
for Captain Smith, the Master of the vessel.

Is it acceptable ? Can ABC Shipping Co. Ltd. act as a Carrier and Agent at the same time ? If yes, then why not they simply signed the B/L as a Carrier.

Hi,

Notwithstanding that the carrier’s name is indicated, the bill of lading signed as described is complying with paragraph E5 (e) ISBP 745.
