hi there.
i face a case i never met before:
i have a rwbill without having the stamp of railway station of departure but being signed and indicating carrier's name and the date of shipment by handwritting
in the box usually used for the stamp.
the rest of the text (consignor, consignee, goods description, waggon no.,weight) is printed, not handwritten.
having in view ucp500-art.28, isbp645-art.11 and art.172 i think i should accept the rwb. but, could issuing bank reject the doc. based on isbp174 ? whould you have any doubt regarding who signed the rwb ?
thank you all.

Your question reminds me of a query discussed at the last Banking Commission meeting - search ICC Opinions for TA601.
Hope this Opinion is of some help.

Bogdan,
I can only observe that the Article 28 does not require that a rail transport document automatically bears a stamp of any kind (and that paragraph 174 does not suggest the contrary) and therefore the absence of a particular stamp is not -of itself alone- grounds for refusal under Article 28.
My impression is that the RTD has been signed in accordance with sub-Art 28(a)(i).
Regards, Jeremy
