Change of Bank's name

On Sept 01,2007 we received a Guarantee from Bank A which is expire upto Oct 01 , 2007. Later on, the Bank's name has been changed to Bank B due to the merger. On Sept 15, 2007 we got the amendment from Bank B extending the expire date.

Can we accept the amendment which comes from the different Bank than the Bank issued the original Guarantee ?

I think you'll find the answer to your legal dept. and to your swift/corresp.bank dept.
