I have found some of the opinions above as confusing and misleading. The “FULL SET NON-NEGOTIABLE SEA WAYBILLS” specification is very much clear and accurate. It is exactly as described by art.24. UCP 500. To qualify this as violation of UCP500 (of sub-Articles 5 (a) (to give complete and precise instructions in LC)& 5 (a) (i) (to avoid excessive details in LC)) is too much of exaggeration.
Also to propose that documentary checker should not check documents related to the trade he has no profound knowledge of is not correct for obvious reasons.
On the other hand I share the concerns of other bankers re. photocopies of transport documents as being acceptable as originals.
