Insurance doc Para 175 of ISBP681

I would appreciate your views on the following ;
I'm not sure whether this issue is relevant to ISBP (681) para 175 and I'm able to interpret correctly this para at all.

This para outlines how an expiry date should be incorporated on insurance docs.
It basicly says that an expiry must not relate to for the presentation of any claims but may relate for a specific cover period for insurance
commencing from any shipment date. I consider that the expiry mentioned on insurance docs may signify the validity of an insurance doc in two ways;

1) A time limit that one may be able to issue an isurance cert or decl under an open cover policy
2) Validity period of an insurance doc.

I think Para 175 is mostly relevant to validity period of an insurance cover

I received an insurance certificate issued under an open cover policy having following details ;

Policy start date : 24 April 2007
Policy end date : 23 April 2008
Risk commencement date : 23 April 2008

(Related B/L date : 26 April 2008)

My view , the insurance doc is vaild and covers the shipment and it is acceptable

1) Agree my view ? Is there any contradiction between the end date and risk commencement date ?
2) If the insurance doc did not have a risk commencement date , would it be acceptable ?
3) If you have an insurance cert bearing a clause saying " The presentation of any claims must be made in two months after shipment or similar , would you accept it ?

I think that par. 175 is the typical one which should be revised and above all clarified.
I remember having seen certificates (Lloyd's if my memory serves me right) where there was an expiry date. The reason, I have been told, is that the forms may be renewed from time to time and therefore can be used for a certain period of time only.
