Insurance: indication of originals

Post by ANH TUYETL » Thu Dec 02, 2010 12:00 am

We received the advice of following discrepacy from Issuing bank: "insurance policy not indicating the number of originals issued''.
The presentation included two (02) originals of insurance policy, each is marked "ORIGINAL" on its face and no indication of no. of originals issued.
.
On my first thought, I think the discrepancy is invalid since UCP does not require no. of originals issued, it is not like BL. But on my second thought, the Issuing bank may be correct since checker is not sure all originals are presented (assume more than 2 originals are issued)
.
Pls let us have your opinions.

Insurance: indication of originals

If the insurance document -i.e. within its body- did not indicate it had been issued in more than one original the discrepancy IS invalid. The fact that two originals were presented is academic.
