Just a general query, if a letter of credit calls for "Insurance policy/certificate issued in duplicate....." My question is should the insurance document evidence that it has been issued in duplicate or would the presentation of 2 insurance document either both marked original or original and duplicate satisfy the L/C requirement.

Cesare,

Given the provisions of sub-Art 20(c)(ii) and sub-Art 34(b) I would accept one ‘original’ and one ‘copy’ (unless the document presented indicated it was ‘issued in more than one original’) or two originals (unless the document presented indicated it had been issued in more than two originals).

Regards, Jeremy
