Shipping Certificate

DC asks for Shipping Certificate signed by Carrier, Master or Owner of vessel.
Beneficiary has presented Shipping Certificate signed by Agent of the Carrier
Is this acceptable

Anthony,

Provided that the agent has actually stated that is signing for the (named) carrier then I cannot see any grounds for considering it non-compliant.

Dear Anthony,

Although I agree with Jeremy, but frankly speaking, having seen some Middle Eastern practices to abide by the so called “doctrine of strict compliance”, if you are a negotiating bank, I would recommend that you get such a shipping certificate “repaired” and ask beneficiary to present a shipping certificate signed by Carrier , even if the certificate is signed by Agent for and on behalf of Carrier even though rightly and rightfully.

Don't take a chance.
