LC Number on all documents

Credit requires L/C number must be quoted on all documents.
Does "all documents" includes bill of exchange ?

If I have understood correctly other chapters of this captivating bill of exchange story, it would depend if the BoE is a document among other documents or something else. Nobody has the final answer. So, in order to be of the safe side, I would put the L/C number on the BoE. On the other hand, I wonder why it is so painfull to do it.
