Meaning of "origin"

Post by GSham » Thu Mar 21, 2013 12:00 am

When "origin" forms part of the shipment information in an invoice, together with "vessel name", "shipment date" and "destination", I take it as to mean the place where the shipment begins. Would you agree with me?

I certainly would "origin" as an appropriate word to describe the place where the shipment begins.

Thanks Jeremy. Thus when the invoice shows origin - Port X, vessel - MV ABC, shipment date - dd-MMM-yyyy, destination - Port Y, whereas it is shown within the presentation that country of origin is Country A, my view is the "origin" stated above in the invoice does not conflict with the "country of origin" because they mean different things.
