I would like to seek your advice regarding the latest day for presentation of documents under the following LC terms:
- L/C calls for “Shipped on board ocean bills of lading covering port to port shipment”.
- Period for Presentation: Document to be presented within 21 days after date of issuance of transport documents but within the validity of the L/C.
The Bill of lading we received shows both fields of “Date of issue of B/L-2017-01-31” and “Shipped on Board Date-2017-01-16” as per copy attached.
There are views that it has to be the “Date of issue of B/L” as LC stipulates 21 days after date of issuance of transport documents. Whereas some others consider “Shipped on Board Date” as LC calls for shipped on board B/L and issue date of B/L is referring to the on board date/shipment date.
Would appreciate your opinion and comments.

Hi,
your l/c terms clearly indicated Period for Presentation: ... 21 days after date of issuance of transport documents .... Therefore it is clear that it refers to b/l issuance date and not to on board date
