New US regulations

For the benefit particularly of the few exporters & importers who are part of the Discussion Forum, please be advised that U.S. Customs has announced the implementation of new AMS (Automated Manifest System) rules which will require Shipping Lines and Logistics companies acting as carriers (NVOCCs) to present manifest information to U.S. Customs for all U.S. bound shipments/containers 24 hours prior to sailing at port of origin. This comes into effect 2.12.2002.

I expect that after this has been in operation for a little while, it will cause little or no difficulty, but the early days, because of its learning curve may cause delays etc.
