When a presentation of documents is received from a bank abroad with a little sticky label attached giving details of payment instructions and saying that 'this bank is authorised to act as our agent for presentation, tracing and receipt of funds', who do we send the notice of refusal (mt734), or acceptance to? Direct to the bank whose letterhead the schedule is printed on, or the agent on the yellow sticky label?

As there is not apparently an express instruction from the remitting bank to ‘deal’ with the agent and the presentation has apparently been made by the remitting bank and not the agent I would regard it as being safer to send the notice of refusal to the remitting bank and not the agent or both (‘belt and braces’).

in these cases, I feel compelled to respond to both, quoting both references, but I try to resolve future difficulties by asking the presenter to advise to whom such messages should be sent and to clarify this in their letters of presentation.
