Seen the term CY/SD on a B/L.
I know CY is container yard, I can't for the life of me remember what SD stands for?

Help!!

Hi

It could be SHIP DOCK...normally it is referred as LSD - Landing Ship Dock

Anyone to confirm this!

I'm not sure, but SD might be related to some charges applied by shipping companies for container use into container yard.
I think the best would be to ask a shipping co.'s help,finding someone qualified to give you the proper answer.

Dear Peter,

SD means ”Store door”. Or in normal language: “door delivery” – which indicates that the shipping line must deliver the container to the consignees door; i.e. in addition to the ocean transport from port of loading (CY) to the post of discharge (CY) also arrange for container haulage to the agreed place of delivery.
