A phytosanitary certificate is called for under a credit involving timber shipment fr Malaysia. Is it a must that the certificate should be dated before the BL date?

If the content of a certificate indicates clearly the date of performance of the duties, then the date of issuance of that certificate can be after the date of shipment.

I was handling timber trade for logs loaded from Tawau, Sandakan, Lahad Datu etc. when Datuk Harris bin Mohd. Salleh, my good friend, was the Chief Minister of Sabah. If you happen to meet Datuk Harris, please ask him to send me his email address to experts@tolee.com. I also worked for the State Agent of Sabah State, Malaysia in Hong Kong. When the Sabah Ministers come to Hong Kong, I was the one to greet them.

By the way, the Internet jargon "FAQ" (Frequently Asked Questions) at that time should mean "Fair Average Quality" in timber trade where "Queen Victoria" was the best grade.
