I have seen a clause added to a B/E from France as follows :
"FRAIS LOCAUX A LA CHARGE DU TIRE"
This was part of a LC presentation in which all charges were on Benef.
Fortunately no local charges applied, but I am curious what the position would have been if there were. In different context, we know that a B/E is not regarded as part of the docs for examination under the LC, except as an instrument of payment, but if this instrument indicates charges payable in contradiction of an instruction in the LC, do we reject as discrepant or ignore or refuse to act on the above clause on the B/E ?

Charges on B/E
Jeremy,
would you ignore it on the basis of a language other than that of the LC being used, or on some other basis ?

Charges on B/E
I'd ignore it on the basis that it does not have any impact on the terms of the credit.
