Amendment of L/Cs which are not yet in force

I'd like to ask your opinion on the following matter:
Is it possible to amend a letter of credit which originally was opened with the following condition: This L/C only will come into force if we receive your confirmation that the guarantee no. xyz is considered as null and void.
Fromm my point of view it is impossoble to change a letter of credit which formally does not yet exist.
I'd very much appreciate your comments.
