Invoices i.o. invoice

Post by DanielD » Mon Feb 25, 2008 12:00 am

A DC is issued for 10 trucks. PS not allowed. DC requires:" Signed commercial invoice in ..."
Shipment made for the 10 trucks (one B/L) but a separate invoice is issued for each truck. OK or not?

Daniel,

I cannot see any obvious reason why one invoice for each truck would constitute a transgression of the credit’s terms. I certainly do not see the fact that the word ‘invoice’ is in the singular is of any relevance.

No issues on the invoice but I would reject on the grounds of partial shipment. Shipment by 10 separate trucks would invoke the same means of conveyance provision under art 31(b). Please refer R240

Khalid,
Maybe I did not make myself clear.
The trucks are the goods and not the means of transport.

Hi Daniel,

if all 10 trucks would be on the same means of conveyance and the same journey for the same destination, it would be ok for me to have 10 separate invoices. Furthermore your presentation would be in full under the L/C therefore i would not see any discrepancy.

Best regards

Jeremy, Gerhard,
Thanks for your views, I thought as much. It is just the fact that, these days, I can easily imagine a bank raising a discrepancy for that reason. But, maybe, I am getting paranoid

Daniel,

One cannot be paranoid about such matters given the ingenuity of the documentary examiner in inventing all manner of 'discrepancies'.
