Standard Chartered has announced that its flagship Trade Institute has received full accreditation from LIBF (formerly known as the London Institute of Banking and Finance) which provides, amongst other offerings, specialised training in letters of credit (L/Cs) through their Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS) programme.
The accreditation recognises the trade expertise that the Standard Chartered Trade Institute curriculum brings to the industry, and the value this knowledge sharing platform brings for clients across industries.
The new accreditation was granted following a rigorous assessment of the curriculum and LIBF's confidence in the training that Standard Chartered delivers to its clients.
First of its kind
The Standard Chartered Trade Institute is the first programme of its kind to be accredited by LIBF. Through its global reputation in banking and financial training, LIBF training programmes meet the highest standards, and are evaluated on a regular basis for the accreditation.
Introduced in 2024, Standard Chartered Trade Institute is a suite of training programmes focused on clients. The programme offers in-person and online training sessions and empowers the bank's clients by sharing knowledge about trade industry guidelines and practices whilst providing an understanding of Standard Chartered's trade solutions and capabilities.
This in turn allows for an enhanced overall client experience. The sessions are available to Standard Chartered clients.
Professional L/C competence
The CDCS professional qualification is recognised globally as a benchmark of competence for international trade practitioners.
Key features of the CDCS programme include coverage of various aspects of documentary credits, including types, characteristics, and uses of documentary credits and standby L/Cs. It also delves into rules and trade terms such as UCP 600, ISP98, Incoterms® 2020, and URR 725
Achieving the qualification allows individuals to add 'CDCS' after their name, enhancing career and promotion prospects in the field of international trade finance.
