TradeCard, the developer of one of the online alternatives to letters of credit (L/Cs), has recently entered into new business relationships with two of the world's largest logistics and freight companies.
In July TradeCard announced a strategic alliance with Maersk Logistics USA, a month after saying it had signed a partnership agreement with logistics and freight specialist DHL Danzas Air & Ocean.
Maersk agreement
Under the agreement between TradeCard and Maersk, the two companies will integrate their respective service offerings with the aim of enabling improved delivery of the forwarder's cargo receipts from Maersk Logistics' internal systems to the TradeCard platform.
As well as technical cooperation, Maersk says it will offer the TradeCard solution as an extension of its supply chain offerings.
DHL agreement
TradeCard members will be able to select DHL Danzas Air & Ocean to supply their proof of delivery directly from the TradeCard system under the agreement between the two companies.
Members will also be able to choose DHL Danzas Air & Ocean's total logistics offering including air and ocean freight, industrial project forwarding and IT-supported logistics services.
DHL Danzas Air & Ocean is a division within DHL Global and part of Deutsche Post World Net.
Efficient L/C alternative?
In an additional development, DHL Danzas Air & Ocean and Postbank, another division of Deutsche Post World Net, are working together to offer TradeCard's web-enabled platform to their global customer base.
The two companies hope that joint customers will benefit from cost-savings and greater process efficiencies resulting from the synchronisation of the movement of goods and the financial processes involved in their trade business.
Wolverine World Wide, International Playthings, and Staples are some of the customers now using TradeCard rather than L/Cs to finance transactions.
