A bank originally founded to serve the Chinese American community in California is to set up a new regional letter of credit (L/C) centre.

East West Bank says one of its two new vice presidents in its Washington offices will oversee the establishment of the centre.

L/C centre

Roza Getachew, who has joined the bank as vice president, trade services, is to set up the L/C centre in the Pacific Northwest region.

She has had more than 25 years of international banking experience in all aspects of international operations and trade finance.

Trade focus

East West Bank's other new vice president is also focused on trade finance. Myungae Heyduck has joined the bank as first vice president, global trade consultant, to "strengthen and broaden its international commercial banking capabilities," according to a statement issued by the bank.

East West Bank now has more than 130 branch locations in the US and China.
