Buoyant letter of credit (L/C) business has helped a California-based bank expand its operations into Nevada in the US.

City National Bank (CNB), which introduced its name and brand to Nevadans as part of its acquisition of Business Bank of Nevada earlier last year, says it has quickly become a household name in the state's banking industry.

L/C business

The bank says it is doing well with businesses that need L/Cs for both import and export.

It says it is currently working on a US$14 million deal for L/Cs for a Nevada company that wants to export scrap metal to Vietnam.

Business lines

The bank says it is also making strong inroads in Nevada's gaming industry. It recently opened a new full-service branch and new regional banking centre in the Summerlin area of northwest Las Vegas.

The bank says it is also writing good wealth management and private banking business.

Nevada branches

CNB has nine branch offices in Nevada, including five in Las Vegas and one each in North Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City and Minden.

The bank also has loan production offices in Reno and Stateline in South Lake Tahoe.
