Standard Chartered Bank is reported to have set up a specialist unit to help finance small- and medium-sized businesses in Uganda. On offer are a range of credit facilities, including loans, overdrafts and payment guarantees.

Letter of credit (L/C) facilities are also on offer. These range from a minimum of 5 million Ugandan shillings (Ush5 million) (US$2,941) to a maximum of Ush200 million (US$117,647), or Ush500 million if secured by cash.

Established in Uganda since 1912, Standard Chartered in Uganda already provides a range of L/C and export finance services.
