2010 LC CASE SUMMARIES 96 O.R. (3d) 325 (Ont. Rep. 2009) [Canada]
Topics: Use
Article
Note: Harold Springer (Partner), a partner in Aird & Berlis LLP (Law Firm), brought an action claiming entitlement to a larger number of partnership units for 2001 and 2002 on the basis of representations allegedly made to him by other partners. The Superior Court of Justice in Ontario, Newbould, J., dismissed Partner's action and awarded Law Firm costs.
Long before leaving, Partner made an agreement with a businessman where Partner was to resign from the firm and start a new business venture starting no later than April 2002. The lucrative compensation package he was offered to make the switch was secured by a letter of credit and guaranteed for at least four years.
